What Snorkeling Taught Me About Living a Stronger Life
Turning 40 has made me think differently about what it means to be healthy.
For me, wellness has never been just about having a certain body, hitting a number on the scale, or completing another workout. Those things matter, but they are only part of the picture.
Sometimes wellness looks like getting on a boat in Hawaii, jumping into the ocean, putting on a mask and snorkel, and allowing yourself to experience something completely different.
That was snorkeling for me.
Being in the water, surrounded by marine life and looking beneath the surface, reminded me that there is so much more to life than our everyday routines. We work. We train. We handle responsibilities. We take care of other people. We plan for the future.
But we also have to actually live.
As a wellness professional, I talk constantly about strength, movement, nutrition, longevity and taking care of your body. But longevity isn’t simply about adding years to your life. It’s about making sure you’re healthy enough to enjoy those years.
I don’t want to spend my life working toward “someday.”
I want to be strong enough to travel forever!
Healthy enough to explore.
Fit enough to try new things.
Confident enough to get uncomfortable!
And present enough to appreciate where I am while I’m there.
Snorkeling was more than an activity on a birthday trip. It represented something bigger for me: I am still discovering what I’m capable of.
And that’s one of the most exciting parts about getting older. 👏🏾🙌🏾💪🏾
Your 30s don’t have to be the best years of your life. Neither do your 20s.
You can become stronger, wiser, healthier and more adventurous with every decade.
At 40, I’m not slowing down.
I’m becoming more intentional about how I spend my time, how I care for my body, the experiences I create, and the life I’m building.
Because the goal isn’t just to look good for your life.
The goal is to be healthy enough to fully experience it until time says otherwise.
If you’re reading this and you’re ready to stop putting your health on the back burner, I would love to help you.
Whether your goal is to get stronger, improve your nutrition, lose body fat, build confidence, increase your energy, or simply feel better in your body, your health is the foundation that allows you to experience more of what life has to offer.
You don’t have to wait for the “perfect” time to start.
Let’s get your body strong, your health right, and your life moving in the direction you want it to go.
